Adopt a American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Acorn the Dog needs a home

Hi there, my name is Acorn…just in time for the Fall!  I am estimated to be 3 years old, and I am a black and white Pitbull mix.  They tell me that I am an unclaimed stray, and have been here since September 12.  I am so lucky that I was found and brought here to the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter.  They are taking excellent care of me.  I have no way of telling them who my family was, or where I came from, which is very frustrating.  This is my new home, if only for a short while.  I am a friendly, cuddly, sweet dog.  The volunteers call me a wiggle-bunny, as I have that typical Pitbull wiggle.  You should know that I blush…yes, that is right, I blush.  My entire head turns pink when I get excited.

Cats are not my thing, but I do like some other dogs.  As always, a meet and greet will be necessary to be sure that we all get along.

I am a smart boy and I know all of my basic commands.  I am eager to learn if you will take the time to teach me.  I am house trained and very clean.  I like to play with tough toys and frozen Kongs, but make sure you give me the industrial strength version…I can really chew up a ‘cheapy’.

Pitbulls are a completely misunderstood breed…I get that.   I am here to tell you that you might be wrong about us, and you should take the time to get to know us.  There are several of us here at the shelter, and we all deserve loving homes.  Yup, I am a Pitbull advocate…always have been!  I am neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on my shots.  I walk well on a harness, and I love to play in the yard.  Please give me a chance…come on down to the shelter and take me for a walk.

Stop by and meet him today.

We are open daily from 12 - 4 pm with extended hours until 7 pm on Weds.
